Deadwood, South Dakota, is not a place for the timid. When we chose to open Deadwood Distilling Company at 645 Main St, we decided to bottle the spirit of the Black Hills. Many people recognize the Full Throttle Saloon for its loud pipes and high energy, but this distillery is where that outlaw culture meets the art of the craft.
Michael Ballard saw a chance to take the adventurous lifestyle of the Full Throttle brand and turn it into something you could taste. We wanted to create a premier gathering place where the hospitality was as genuine as the whiskey.
If you are a tourist walking Main Street for the first time or a family looking for a unique spot to hang out, the feeling here is different. For the spirits enthusiast, the value is in the small-batch quality. For the biker or the outlaw at heart, the value is in the truth.
Let’s talk about the details of the mash. Some people think making moonshine is just about heat and sugar. It is much more than that. We use locally sourced ingredients to make sure our spirits have a “spine”.
Our famous S’Loonshine is a perfect example. We take the traditional moonshine process and refine it. We focus on flavors like Peppermint and Butterscotch that taste like the ingredients on the label. We avoid heavy chemical aftertastes. Our moonshine is clear and potent because we take the time to do small batches.

We have high visibility because of our link to the Full Throttle Saloon, but we maintain our trust by being consistent. When you buy a bottle of our Strawberry or Apple Pie moonshine, you are getting a product rooted in local legend.
You can request more information for a private event or purchase a gift card for a friend here, as we are here 7 days a week. Stop by, grab a glass, and see why Deadwood Distilling Company is the heart of the Black Hills.
