The first time you visit Full Throttle Distillery in Estes Park, Colorado. Isn’t just the taste of the moonshine that gets you, it’s the story behind it.

This is the place where you walk away with a deeper appreciation for the way real whiskey is made, and the pride that goes into every batch.

Made with Grit and History

The story of FTD starts with Michael Ballard, raised in the small town of Trimble. With a background shaped by hard work and old-school values, he created something that celebrates bikers, workers, veterans, and everyday folks who live full-throttle lives.

Now, Full Throttle Distillery has grown to six locations, including Trimble and Estes Park, Colorado. Check the locations here.

The first step is choosing the right grain. Full Throttle uses grain grown here in the U.S., often from nearby farms. This supports local agriculture and shapes the bold flavor in every sip.

The process begins with mashing, where the grain is mixed with water and heat to turn starch into sugar. Then comes fermentation, which starts the alcohol process naturally.

The liquid is then cooked in real copper stills, a method passed down through generations. These stills help remove impurities and bring out the flavor.

The next stage is aging in white oak barrels. The wood gives each bottle its color and rich taste.

Every bottle is labeled and filled right there at the distillery.

Why Small-Batch Matters

Full Throttle makes their spirits in small amounts. This keeps things consistent and lets the team stay hands-on with each flavor.

There are over 10 moonshine flavors to try, plus seasonal releases like the crowd-favorite Apple Pie Moonshine. See more information here.
